Centaur in 1987 |
The Centaur saga continues....this time for the year 1987. A slightly different new lineup emerged with guitarist Mike Teeter leaving and the addition of James Carver's brother Steven on guitar:
Bill Hollingsworth (bass/vocals)
Chuck Hollingsworth (drums)
James Carver (guitar/vocals)
Steven Carver (guitar/vocals)
Lee Cherry (lead vocals)
This lineup, stayed together from January 1987 to September 1987. They played a total of 6 gigs that year, one of them opening for the band Madam X (which had singer Sebastian Bach, later of Skid Row, as a member). The cover songs this lineup did included Judas Priest, Accept, Tesla, Scorpions, Dokken and Iron Maiden, among others. Again, they were able to sneak in an original or two into their sets as did the previous version. Having lost the "shack" a new place to practice had to be found. An old converted tobacco barn on the edge of a sub-division served them well for a while until the nearby neighbors began to complain of all the noise and traffic. Eventually, this line up dissolved and some old members came back and new ones entered the picture for the next era covered (1988-1991).

The header says Centaur 1986 THE ATTIC Greenville, NC. It was at the Attic, but it is from a gig dated April 14, 1987. Chuck was able to deduce the date from the lineup and comparison of still photos.
