Centaur 1986

Centaur...the saga continues....

January of 1986 saw a new band lineup:

Bill Hollingsworth (bass/vocals)

Chuck Hollingsworth (drums)

Mike Teeter (guitar/vocals)

James Carver (guitar/vocals)

Lee Cherry (lead vocals)

This lineup, would stay together until November of 1986. Lee (who we dubbed "Big Hair"), Mike and James had done a couple of one-off gigs with Chuck and Bill in late 1985 before the dissolution of the original Centaur. This lineup wound up doing 14 gigs and had a set list that included songs by Accept, Judas Priest, Scorpions, Motorhead and Motley Crue. They were able to sneak in a couple of original songs here and there, but you have to remember that back in those days around here you could not get away with playing too many original songs. The crowds all wanted cover tunes and you had to give the audience and club owners what they wanted! This version of Centaur opened up for a couple of high profile national acts like Kix and Pat Travers at the Attic, a popular venue that is still sorely missed by many musicians and club-goers alike. They continued to practice at the "shack" but this would be the final year of practice there as Chuck and I met and married that year and Bill got married, too. Neither of them wanted their brides to live in such a run down place with complete strangers showing up at all hours (as happened constantly when they lived there) and there was no question of keeping it as the practice house as it had been broken into and robbed while they still lived there, imagine what would have happened with no one living there and it sitting full of band gear for most of the time! Other arrangements would have to be made! And that picks up in the next chapter wherein a slightly different lineup emerges...
